Why Volunteer

Families enrolled in Math in the Mail receive a kit in the mail, 6 times per year (approx. every 8 weeks), which contains materials, resources, and instructions for math activities. Free enrollment is grant funded and allocated to three-year-old children in Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay Region, which encompasses Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, and Saginaw counties. See qualification requirements below.

Assembly Day Overview

The set up is like an assembly line, putting components into boxes to create the Math in the Mail kits. Volunteers can choose to assemble for as little as one hour, or for as many hours as they would like. Snacks and drinks are provided, and it can be a great time to get to know others in the community who are volunteering. Individuals, groups, and organizations are welcome to participate. If a group (such as National Honor Society, a civic group, or an athletic team) wants to participate, their service can be acknowledged with an "Assembled for you by..." sticker inside each kit they work on.  This is a great opportunity for students and anyone needing to earn community service hours!
